10 Months Today

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Madilyn is 10 months old today! She is growing up so fast. Her first tooth has finally come all the way in and she has a second one that has just broken through. She is one of the fastest crawlers I have ever seen. She really gets around. She is trying to walk, and does great when there is something for her to hold onto. She is starting to stand by herself but can only do so for a few seconds before falling. She has the most beautiful smile. I can not believe that she has been in our lives for 10 months already. Time is really flying.

Tired

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

Have you ever gotten a full nights sleep and woke up startled when the alarm clock went off? That is me lately. I am getting pretty good sleep now that Madilyn is sleeping through the night, but I wake up feeling like I have only slept an hour or so.

I long for times when work was not pressing and times when just hanging out was the thing to do. Seems like we do not have time to just hang out anymore now that we are responsilbe grown ups with careers, kids and bills. I want my life to be more than working, cleaning house and taking care of kids.

I determined a few weeks ago that I would make time for myself, David the kids and friends and not go crazy doing so. So on Feb. 14 I reactivated my gym membership and have been going to work out 3-4 days a week since then. I am feeling better, but still waking up tired. The time I spend at the gym is ME time. Time to think, time to chill and time to work on me. I LOVE it and don’t know why I quit going in the first place.

Last week I decided that it was crazy to drive Caleb all the way to youth, then go home only to have to come out to get him and drive home again. Our friends Iris and John live farther from the church than we do and thought the same thing. So this past Sunday night we spent about 2 hours chillin at “It’s a Grind.” It was a great night. We talked about fun things, serious things, stupid things, just whatever came to mind. Next week we are going to go get Sushi while the kids are at youth.

We are looking for a permanent babysitter so that we can establish a weekly or biweekly date night. While Caleb is too old for a babysitter he is not old enough to take care of Madilyn by himself. He has some hurt feelings about this but will get over it. We have a girl that we have used once and have scheduled again, and are hoping that it will work out.

Sometimes, you really have to think about and plan time to just relax and not let your life run you. Working on it, but right now life is running me I am not running life.

8 Months

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Madilyn is 8 months old today. Time is passing by so very qucikly. She is a good baby and is really on the move lately. She crawls very fast, stands up and walks along the sofa while holding on. She begs for table food and has the sweetest smile I have ever seen a baby have.

She has added so much joy to our lives. I can not believe that we have had our precious baby for 8 months already.

She has had several ear infections and colds but she is very healthy otherwise.

Life Goes on

Monday, January 26th, 2009

The last few weeks have been rough. People all around me have experienced great loss with the death of loved ones. I have seen them be strong in the mist of all of this and have realized that God is big enough to help us when we are weak, and can get us through any and all trials of life. I am so impressed with the Newmans and how they are continuing to live life after the death of their infant. Yes, they have hard days, but they are letting God carry them through this time. Will they have hard days for weeks, months and years to come? More than likely, but they know that God is there to carry them. I pray for them daily and pray that I will have faith like theirs not only in the bad times but also in the good times.

Rough Week- Jan 11-17

Monday, January 19th, 2009

This week has been a rough week. It has been overwhelming and emotionally draining.

My friend Julia lost her husband this week. His death was unexpected. A couple in our church lost their 14 month old daughter. And our church is in the air as to if the city is going to let us stay in the convention center.
Julia will be a rock in her loss she is a strong woman. While Joe’s death was unexpected Julia knows it was in the plan written for his life and hers. I went to the funeral in Albany, and was touched by the many people who were there and the things that were said about his life.
The family at church amazes me with their faith in God and ability to continue on with life. They will be in my prayers for the weeks and months to come. I don’t know that I could be as strong as they are if something were to happen to one of my children.
As for our church and our meeting location. We will be a church no matter where we meet. The stumbling blocks that we are facing will only make us stronger. As of today we can stay in the convention center, but who knows what will happen in the weeks and months to come.
I am glad this week is over and hope that the coming weeks will be better.

Rolling Over

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Madilyn has started rolling over. However, she is very sneaky about doing so. She waits until we leave the room to roll over. We have finally caught her at it, but it took us a few days catch her.

She also appears to be teething. She has been a big drool bucket the past few days, and has been a bit grouchy. Hopefull this ends soon.

4 Month Check Up

Monday, October 27th, 2008

It is hard to believe that Madilyn is already four months old. Today she had her 4 month check up. She is 12 pounds and about 24 inches long. She is only in the 17% percentile on weight and height. She is a small girl. However, she is very healthy and doing very well, so the doctor is not concerned with her weight or length at this time.

2 Nights

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Madilyn has slept through the night for 2 nights in a row. We are hoping and praying that this will be her new norm. David and I are so exhausted since we have not slept a full night since the 1st of July.

Playful Madilyn

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Maddie loves to sit in her bouncy chair and play. She has the best smile and is overall a very happy baby.
Since I have fall break next week we are going to Milton, FL so that she can meet her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. The trip is just for the girls since Caleb has school next week.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Friday, September 5th, 2008

We have been very busy around here lately. Home life, work, school and church keep us tied up.

Home: We are doing great. We are all adjusting to having a baby in the house, and she is adjusting to us. It has been much easier than I thought it would be. Our problem is that we have no time to keep the house as clean as I would like it to be. But playing with the kids is more important than a sparkling clean house.

We started working on Madilyn’s room a few weeks ago. We should have it finished this weekend or early next week. I will post pictures when it has been completed. All of the furniture is black. We have used pink, red and hot pink as accent colors. It is a room that she will be able to grow into and have until she is old enough to choose her own decor.

Caleb has been busy with scouts. He has a camp out next weekend along with a service project at one of the local lakes. He recevied several awards at the awards banquet last week. So he is keeping busy.

Work: David is very busy with his current contact. They have renewed him for another year which is good news. He has two employees working with him. His scheudle is still flexible enough that he is able to take Madilyn and Caleb to doctor appointments and other events.

I love my new job. This year has been pretty much stress free. I do have a lot of down time at work, but I have been told to enjoy it now, because next year it will not be like this. I just like the environment so much better than my last school.

School: Middle school is killing us. Caleb is now in 7th grade. He is still a Cherokee Christian. He enjoys most of his classes. However, he lacks the skills to keep himself organized. I just keep in mind that one month is down only 9 more to go. This too shall pass.

Church: I will post this in a seperate post, since it may be a little longer.
