Thankfulness Day 17- Contentment

autumn“It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it.” Dale Carnegie

Today I am thankful for contentment. I am not a person that dwells on material possessions, or superstar status. I am generally contented with what I have and who I am.

I don’t need the latest technology gadgets, I am happy with what I have. The last time I got a new phone the salesman laughed at my old and outdated slide phone. To be honest I really liked that phone and hated to have to get a new one, but a replacement was needed due to extensive damage to the phone. I know people that buy a new car as soon as they have paid off their old one. Not me. I like to drive mine until they can driven no longer. I had one car for 13 years. I purchased a new one only because we expanded our family through foster care and the kids did not have enough room. Sometimes David will look at my worn out gym clothing or pj’s and say, “go get some new things to wear.”  I tend not to notice the wear and tear on my clothing.

I am so happy that I am not a person that is always searching for more, or better. I am happy that the little things in life bring me happiness and contentment.

What are you thankful for today?
