Thankfulness Day 11- Our Local Public Schools

Today I am thankful for our local public school system. I am really thankful that David and I make our home in a community that values our schools and education. Our school system is constantly ranking very high in all aspects of education.

I will be truthful and say that when we first moved to Cherokee County I was not impressed with the schools. However, in the years that we have lived here they have continued to improve and exceed state and national standards. Over the past several years our county schools have scored above the state and national averages on the SAT and ACT. Our schools currently one of the highest graduation rates in the state and currently exceed the state average. Our local schools also offer a wide variety of Advance Placement and Honors classes. I do believe that Caleb received a wonderful education while he was in this system. Madilyn is just starting out in the public school system and so far she is doing well. Her class just received a class set of laptops so that they can have access to more resources and more individualized education plans. She loves having her “own laptop” and loves doing research and reading books on line.

I know that not everyone is blessed to be able to live in an area with high achieving public schools, but I am so glad and count it a real blessing to be able to live where we have good schools.

What are you thankful for today?
