Savings this week

I had an awesome grocery shopping trip at Publix this week. I found a lot of great deals and was able to stock up on a few staples for the winter months. This week I did a good job buying only what was on my shopping list. I was also more diligent at passing up items that I did not have coupons for. Resisting impulse buying while shopping really drives your final total down. Not taking kids with you shopping also helps to keep the total down because you can shop without distractions and find the best deals.

My total prior to BOGO and coupons was $93.95.  I paid $45.02, which means I saved $48.93. My goal was to keep my pre-coupon total to under $100, which I did.

Deals of the week:

  • Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice: On sale for 2 for $3 minus a coupon for BOGO makes the total paid $1.50 for a total of .75 per box.
  • Pepperidge Farm Soft Baked Cookies: On sale for $1.70 minus a coupon for .50 doubled makes the total paid .70 per bag.
  • Starkist Lunch Kit: On sale for $1.99 minus a .50 coupon doubled makes the total paid .99, (I keep these in my office for days that I forget to bring my lunch.
  • Campbell’s Soup: On sale for $1.00 per can. Minus a coupon for $1.50 off 3 cans so I paid .50 for each can of soup.
  • Dial 3 Pack Bar Soap: On sale for .93 per pack, minus a .35 coupon doubled makes the total paid .24 per package.

I am so glad that I took the time to learn how to shop using coupons and sales. Over the years I had tried to use coupons and would just get frustrated because I did not know about all of the resources that were available to help make coupon shopping easy. Now that I have figured out how to coupon shop I can not imagine shopping without them.

Sweet shopping! I wish we had Publix in MI!

I find leaving my HUSBAND at home saves a lot of impulse purchases! BUT, I like having his at home, ready to help unload the car!

LOL- You are right leaving husbands at home does help to reduce impulse purchases. I also try to never have him run to the store to pick up one or two things, because somehow between the house and the store the list grows.
