Bible in a Year

BibleStudy“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalms 119-105

I try hard to read my Bible everyday. Some days it is harder than other days. During the week I set my alarm for about 30 minutes earlier than I need to get up so that I can spend some time reading and praying before I start my day. I really hate hearing that alarm go off so early. However, I know me. I know that if I don’t read and pray right when I get up it will more than likely not happen. On the weekends I play it by ear and find a time sometime during the day when the household is quiet to have my study time.

Some ladies at church introduced me to a website called She Reads Truth. They post a daily devotional.  At the end of the devotional they have open comments so that you can read what others have learned and post your own sights.  You can also access their past plans if you are not interested in the current devotional series. They do have devotional study packs that accompany the online devotional postings. These are not necessary to participate but may be helpful. I have not yet purchased any of these, they look beautiful so I may purchase some in the future.

I have never been able to read my Bible in a year. I have tried many times. This year in addition to my personal devotion time I am trying to read my Bible through in a year. The creators of the She Reads Truth website have also created a 356 Day Bible Reading plan app for phones or they have a paper version if you do not want to download the app. Currently the app is not working for Android phones, so I have printed the plan and am keeping up to date that way until the Android app is fixed. It is not too late to get started reading your Bible in a year. There are lots of plans out there so find one and make it a goal to read your entire Bible in a year.

Our pastor did a great sermon this past Sunday concern the lack of Bible knowledge that many Christians have. We lack knowledge because we do not read and we do not study God’s word.  I have a minor in the Bible from Lee University, but I still lack knowledge. There is always more to learn, there is always more revealed. Lets make 2015 the year that we dive into God’s word and become filled with knowledge.
